Medan, INVOCAVIT. COM: Kehadiran seorang wakil rakyat harus dirasakan langsung oleh rakyat, bukan hanya melalui janji atau formalitas.
“Saya ada untuk masyarakat, bukan masyarakat untuk saya,” demikian kata anggota DPR RI Komisi XIII Dapil Sumut I Partai Golkar, Kombes Pol (Purn) Dr Maruli Siahaan SH.MH, dirumah aspirasi Maruli Siahaan di Jl. Nibung II No 12, Medan Baru, Kamis (23/10).
Menurutnya, menjadi anggota DPR bukan hanya soal duduk di kursi parlemen, tetapi tentang mendengarkan suara rakyat dan memperjuangkan kebijakan yang benar-benar bermanfaat bagi kehidupan masyarakat nya di Dapil Sumut 1.
Untuk mengaplikasikan jabatan sebagai anggota DPR RI itulah, Maruli Siahaan sebagai wakil rakyat selalu membuka ruang bagi siapa saja yang ingin menyampaikan aspirasi maupun permasalahan yang dihadapi di Rumah Aspirasi Maruli Siahaan Jl. Nibung II No.12, Kota Medan.
Tanpa mengenal waktu, sesampainya di Bandara Kualanamu dari Kota Pekan Baru, Maruli langsung menuju Rumah Aspirasi. Setiap harinya, Rumah Aspirasi Maruli Siahaan selalu ramai dikunjungi oleh warga dari berbagai daerah di Sumatera Utara.
Tidak hanya dari Kota Medan, banyak pula yang datang dari Kabupaten Deliserdang, Serdang Bedagai, hingga Kota Tebing Tinggi sebagai daerah pemilihannya (Dapil Sumut I red), untuk bertemu langsung dengan sang legislator yang dikenal ramah dan berjiwa sosial tinggi itu.
Maka tidak heran jika setiap harinya jika tidak berada di Jakarta, selalu keliling Dapilnya untuk bertemu langsung dengan masyarakat agar bisa mengetahui aspirasi dan kepentingan masyarakat di daerah pemilihannya.
Dr. Maruli Siahaan tidak pernah membedakan latar belakang tamunya. Baik dari kalangan petani, nelayan, buruh, pedagang kecil, hingga tokoh masyarakat dan pemuda bahkan pengusaha, semua diterima dengan tangan terbuka dan penuh rasa hormat.

Jauh sebelum terjun kedunia politik sejak masih aktif di kepolisian, nama Kombes Pol (Purn) Dr Maruli Siahaan SH.MH, tidak asing lagi bagi masyarakat Sumatera Utara.
Pria kelahiran Desa Lobusiregar, Kec Siborong-borong tahun 1961 itu dikenal ringan tangan membantu siapa saja, bahkan sangat peduli dengan keluhan masyarakat.
Hampir 24 jam saat aktif sebagai anggota Polri ruang kerjanya dipenuhi tamu, terutama dari kalangan masyarakat yang termarjinalkan. Dalam kesempatan itu pula, Maruli Siahaan yang lahir dari keluarga sederhana itu selalu menyampaikan sosialisasi, untuk menghindari kriminalitas.
“Soal rezeki itu ditangan Tuhan. Berbuat baik terhadap sesama akan mendatangkan rezeki namun tetap rendah hati dan selalu berserah kepada sang pencipta,” ujar Maruli.
Tak dipungkiri, dengan kebaikannya itu pula, Maruli Siahaan tidak sulit untuk mendidik dan mengarahkan anak-anaknya. Empat orang putranya dari pernikahan dengan Betty br Simanjuntak bisa lulus pendidikan akademi di Akademi Militer (Akmil) dan Akademi Kepolisian (Akpol).
