Hal ini berdasarkan Keputusan Komisi Pemilihan Umum Kota Medan No. 2065 tahun 2024, Tentang Penetapan Hari, Tanggal, Waktu Pemungutan Suara Susulan dan Pemungutan Suara Lanjutan pada Pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Sumatera Utara, Walikota dan Wakil Walikota Medan Tahun 2024.
Pernyataan ini disampaikan Ketua KPU Kota Medan kepada wartawan, 29 Nopember 2024, di Gedung KPU Kota Medan Jalan Kejaksaan Medan No. 35 Medan. Dijelaskannya, selain SK KPU Medan No. 2065 tahun 2024. PSS dan PSL dilakukan berdasarkan Pasal 74 Ayat 1 PKPU No. 17 Tahun 2024 Tentang Pemungutan dan Pemghitungan Suara dalam Pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur, Walikota dan Wakil Walikota Medan, yang menyatakan dalam hal disebagian atau seluruh wilayah terjadi kerusuhan, Gangguan Keamanan, Bencana Alam atau gangguan lainya yang mengkibatkan seluruh tahapan Pemungutan Suara dan Penghitungan Suara tidak dapat dilaksanakan, Dilakukan Pemungutan atau penghitungan suara susulan.terang Mutia.
Kemudian lanjut Mutia, KPU Medan juga menyurati Dinas Kependudukan dan Catatan Sipil (Disdukcapil) kota Medan, yang isinya memohon untuk agar tetap melakukan pelayanan sebelum dan pada saat dilaksanakan Pemungutan Suara Susulan dan Pemungutan Suara Lanjutan pada tanggal 30 Nopember s/d 1 Desember.
Adapun Kecamatan yang TPS nya dilakukan Pemungutan Suara Susulan dan Lanjutan diantaranya :
1. Kecamatan Medan Maimun : Kelurahan Kampung Baru TPS, 26,27, Kelurahan Hamdan TPS 7
2. Kecamatan Medan Deli : Kelurahan Tanjung Mulia TPS, 1 dan 2
3. Kecamatan Medan Amplas : Kelurahan Amplas TPS, 7,8,9,13,14,16,17, 18,19,20. Kelurahan Sitirejo III TPS, 13.
4. Kecamatan Medan Denai : Kelurahan Menteng TPS, 14,15,16 dan 17. Kelurahan Binjai TPS, 27,28,54 dan 67.
5. Kecamatan Medan Helvetia : Kelurahan Tanjung Gusta TPS, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18, 19,20,21,22 dan 24. Kelurahan Cinta Damai TPS, 11,12,13,14,15,16,17 dan 18.
Total TPS Pemungutan Suara Susulan : 55 TPS.
Sedangakan TPS Pemungutan Suara Lanjutan diantaranya :
