Wakil Gubernur Sumatera Utara (Sumut) periode 2018-2023 ini menyatakan Provinsi Sumatera Utara merupakan salah satu daerah yang memiliki komoditas pertanian dan perkebunan.
Karena itu, politisi Partai Golkar yang akrab disapa Bang Ijeck menyatakan, dalam mencapai cita-cita ketahanan pangan tentu dibutuhkan infrastruktur yang sangat menunjang satu diantaranya adalah bendungan.
“Seperti diketahui, bila Presiden Prabowo sedang fokus untuk mencapai ketahanan pangan dan di beberapa daerah Sumatera Utara itu memiliki komoditas pertanian dan perkebunan. mohon izin saat saya menjadi Wakil Gubernur Sumut saya juga melihat kinerja pembangunan dari Kementerian PU,” kata Ijeck dalam Rapat Kerja Komisi V DPR RI dengan Menteri Pekerjaan Umum (PU) di Senayan, Jakarta Pusat, Rabu (30/10/2024).
“Bendungan yang berfungsi untuk mengairi irigasi komoditas pertanian adalah salah satu sarana yang dapat mewujudkan cita-cita ketahanan pangan,” ujarnya.
Oleh karena itu, Ijeck memaparkan terdapat beberapa bendungan di Sumut yang sudah dibangun oleh Balai Wilayah Sungai (BWS) Sumatera II.
Terdapat tujuh bendungan di Sumut yang sudah dibangun seperti misalnya Bendungan Sei Wampu di Kabupaten Langkat, kemudian Bendungan Sei Serdang di Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Bendungan Sei Padang di Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Kemudian ada Bendungan Sei Silau di Kabupaten Asahan, Bendungan Sidilanitano di Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara, Bendungan Sitakkurak di Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah, dan Bendungan Aek Sigeaon di Tapanuli Utara,” ungkapnya.
Ketua Partai Golkar Sumut ini menyatakan bila bendungan itu sudah dibangun namun sampai saat ini fungsi irigasi dari Bendungan belum sepenuhnya berfungsi.
Untuk itu, Ijeck mempertanyakan kepada Menteri PU kapan bendungan tersebut bisa berfungsi dengan baik terutama untuk fungsi irigasi.
Pasalnya, untuk mencapai Cita-cita Ketahanan Pangan tentu fungsi irigasi dari Bendungan harus sepenuhnya berfungsi. Ijeck menyatakan perbaikan bendungan tentu akan dapat mempercepat cita-cita Ketahanan Pangan.
“Jadi Bendungan yang sudah dibangun sampai saat ini belum berfungsi untuk mengairi irigasi pertanian kira kira kapan bendungan ini bisa segera berfungsi sementara ketahanan pangan ini isu yang sangat penting,” pungkasnya.(kcu)
