MEDAN, INVOCAVIT.COM – Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) akan terus berupaya meningkatkan kualitas wartawan melalui pendidikan dan pelatihan serta penyelenggaraan Uji Kompetensi Wartawan (UKW). Kita pastikan wartawan kompoten dan profesional.

 

Sedangkan bagi wartawan yang telah memiliki kartu UKW tetap dimonitor kinerjanya. Apakah aktif menghasilkan karya jurnalistik apa tidak. “Bagi pemilik UKW yang terbukti melanggar aturan atau kode etik. Kartu UKW nya akan dicabut,” kata Direktur UKW PWI Pusat Firdaus Komar mewakili Ketua Umum PWI Pusat Hendry CH Bangun saat pembukaan penyelenggaraan UKW angkatan 59 dan 60 di Medan, Selasa (7-8/11/2013).

 

Disampaikan Firdaus, pemberian sanksi atau cabut kartu UKW dilakukan melalui lembaga uji dan seterusnya disampaikan ke dewan pers. “Kita tetap menjaga kemerdekaan pers,” sebutnya.

 

Menurut Firdaus, penyelanggaraan UKW di Sumut dinilai sudah cukup bagus dan mantap. “Selain peningkatan kualitas wartawan secara personal juga akan memberikan manfaat bagi perusahaan,” tambah Firdaus.

 

Sedangkan guna memaksimalkan program PWI Pusat dan daerah, saat ini jajaran pengurus sedang menyusun standar kompetensi agar lebih baik lagi. “Maka pelaksanaan UKW ke depan akan lebih ketat termasuk materi UKW nya,” terang Firdaus.

 

Sementara itu masih dalam acara pembukaan UKW, Ketua PWI Sumut Farianda Putra Sinik SE menyampaikan harapannya dengan penyelenggaraan UKW dapat melahirkan wartawan yang hebat dan kompeten serta profesional.

 

“Melalui UKW benar benar tercipta wartawan kompeten dipastikan berdampak positif yang berkualitas. Ke depan tetap dikelola akan lebih baik sehingga menjamin guna memberikan dampak positif bagi peserta,” kata Farianda.

 

Farianda juga mengatakan, PWI Pusat akan tegas menjalankan organisasi namun tetap melalui petunjuk PWI Pusat. “Kita siap menjalankan perintah pusat demi membangun PWI keseluruhan,” tutupnya.

 

Hadir saat acara pembukaan, Kepala Dinas Kominfo Sumut, Ilyas Sitorus, Ketua KONI Medan Edi Sibarani, Ketua STOK Bina Guna Dr dr Hj Liliana Puspa Sari.

 

Menurut Ketua Kordinator pelaksana UKW Rifki Warisan, pelaksanaan UKW diikuti 60 peserta terdiri tingkat Utama 6 orang, tingkat Madya 12 orang dan tingkat Muda 48 orang. ***
