Pulungan menerangkan, sebelumnya di Lapangan Gajah Mada itu hanya ada lapangan sepak bola. Nantinya, sesuai dengan Detail Engineering Design (DED) dari Dinas Perumahan, Kawasan Permukiman, Cipta Karya dan Tata Ruang Kota Medan, selain lapangan sepak bola, di lahan itu juga dibangun fasilitas olahraga panjat tebing, tenis, jogging track, serta area bermain anak.

 

Selain itu, ada pula kantor pengelola serta gerai-gerai yang akan diisi oleh Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah..

 

 

Saat ini, lanjutnya, tengah dilakukan pekerjaan penimbunan, perataan lahan, serta penataan lokasi penanaman rumput. Seiring dengan itu, sedang dibangun pula instalasi bawah tanah yang berfungsi menampung air di saat musim hujan. Air ini akan digunakan untuk menyiram Lapangan saat musim kemarau.

 

Pulungan mengatakan, setelah pembangunan selesai pihaknya akan menyelenggarakan berbagai kegiatan-kegiatan yang memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat Medan. Salah satunya adalah membuka sekolah sepak bola (SSB).

Sebelumnya, Pemko Medan telah menerima Sertifikat Hak Pakai yang diterbitkan oleh BPN Medan.  “Dengan demikian, proses pembangunan Lapangan berjalan dengan lancar sesuai dengan target,” lanjutnya.

 

Pulungan mengatakan, Sertifikat Hak Pakai Nomor 00028 yang dikeluarkan oleh BPN Medan, tanggal 16 November 2022 ini menyatakan,  pemegang hak atas lahan seluas 6.975 meter persegi itu adalah Pemko Medan cq Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga.
