Tiga Guru Besar USU Dikukuhkan, Rektor: Perguruan tinggi harus menjadi agen perubahan yang aktif

Tiga guru besar tetap USU dikukuhkan yakni Prof Dr Poltak Sihombing M.Kom, dari Fakultas Ilmu Komputer dan Teknologi Informasi, Prof Dr Diana Sofia Hanafiah SP, MP dari Fakultas Pertanian, dan Prof Dr Dra T. Thyrhaya Zein M.A. dari Fakultas Ilmu Budaya.(ist).

 

INVOCAVIT.COM, MEDAN –  Rektor Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Prof Dr Muryanto Amin, MSi mengukuhkan tiga guru besar tetap, yang berlangsung di Auditorium USU di Medan.

 

Ketiga guru besar itu yakni Prof Dr Poltak Sihombing, MKom dari Fakultas Ilmu Komputer dan Teknologi Informasi, Prof Dr Diana Sofia Hanafiah SP, MP dari Fakultas Pertanian, dan Prof Dr Dra T. Thyrhaya Zein, MA dari Fakultas Ilmu Budaya.

 

Prof Dr Muryanto Amin dalam keterangan tertulis yang diterima di Medan, Senin, mengaku bangga atas prestasi ketiga profesor tersebut dan menyampaikan apresiasi yang tinggi terhadap dedikasi dan kontribusi mereka.

 

Ia juga mengingatkan bahwa pengukuhan guru besar ini menjadi pencapaian terkait komitmen universitas dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan reputasi.

 

“Pentingnya kualitas pembelajaran di lingkungan universitas. Dengan menyoroti terkait teaching and learning yang menjadi salah satu pilar utama dalam mencapai misi pendidikan tinggi yang berkualitas. Sebagaimana hasil penilaian internasional yaitu indikator PISA, yang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat ketertinggalan dalam hal kemampuan literasi, matematika, dan sains di Indonesia,” ucapnya.

 

Rektor menjelaskan bahwa USU telah mengadopsi konsep sociopreneur university, yang menempatkan inovasi dan jejaring luas sebagai landasan utama dalam memecahkan masalah-masalah sosial melalui pendidikan. Ia berpendapat bahwa perguruan tinggi harus menjadi agen perubahan yang aktif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran.

 

USU dengan tagline “Transformation Towards the Ultimate” memperkuat reputasinya sebagai pusat akademik yang berdedikasi dalam menghasilkan penelitian dan pendidikan berkualitas tinggi.

 

“Universitas memiliki prinsip untuk mendukung kemajuan dan inovasi dalam pengembangan riset dan pengajaran di berbagai bidang ilmu pengetahuan. Juga komitmen terhadap peningkatan relevansi pendidikan di Indonesia,” kata Muryanto.(ant)
