7.350 Mahasiswa Ikuti PKKMB USU 2024

MEDAN, INVOCAVIT.COM – Menyambut tahun ajaran baru, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) melaksanakan Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) 2024 dengan tajuk “Embracing The Future, Advancing Together”. Tahun ini sebanyak 7,350 orang mahasiswa baru memadati Stadion Mini USU, Selasa (13/08/2024) dan digelar selama tiga hari sampai Kamis (15/08/2024).

Tema “Embracing The Future, Advancing Together” sangat relevan dengan tantangan dan peluang di masa depan. Dalam dunia yang terus berkembang pesat, dari segi teknologi, ilmu pengetahuan dan dinamika sosial. Mahasiswa dituntut untuk menghadapi masa depan dengan sikap terbuka terhadap inovasi, perubahan, dan kemajuan.

Rektor USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M. Si, saat membuka acara PKKMB mengucapkan selamat kepada mahasiswa baru yang telah lulus, serta apresiasi kepada mahasiswa yang meraih nilai tertinggi dari jalur seleksi SNBP, SNBT dan Mandiri. Rektor juga turut berbangga menyambut para mahasiswa yang berasal dari wilayah paling timur Indonesia, yakni dari Jayapura.

Rektor USU mengharapkan keberhasilan selama menjalani pendidikan dengan mencapai prestasi yang gemilang, baik di akademik dan non-akademik, baik berskala lokal maupun internasional. Ia menyampaikan pesannya kepada para mahasiswa baru untuk mengetahui minat serta bakat yang ingin dikembangkan di dunia perkuliahan.

“Karena itu mengharapkan kepada adik adik harus tahu dulu posisi keinginan adik-adik semua, mau jadi apa setelah masuk kuliah ini. Akan seperti apa pada saat menjalani proses perkuliahan,” pesannya.

Direktur Direktorat Prestasi Mahasiswa dan Hubungan Kealumnian USU, Rahma Yurliani S.Psi, M.Psi,
mengatakan USU turut memfasilitasi  UKM yang ada di USU dengan harapan para mahasiswa dapat proaktif dan meningkatkan skillnya. “Jadi nggak hanya rumah kampus tapi lebih aktif berorganisasi dan minatnya tersalurkan, prestasinya terapi dan soft skillnya meningkat,” katanya.

PKKMB  USU tahun ini semakin meriah dengan persembahan tarian daerah Sumatera Utara yang dibawakan oleh UKM Tari Lentera Nataraja USU, serta pertunjukan angklung oleh Psychestra Harmony dari Paduan Angklung Fakultas Psikologi USU. USU juga menerapkan program Kampus Hijau di PKKMB 2024, seperti kegiatan pemberian goodie bag ramah lingkungan, action plan dan zero trash.

Kegiatan Kampus Hijau yang disosialisasikan kepada mahasiswa baru USU terkait pentingnya menjaga dan merawat kebersihan lingkungan, khususnya di wilayah kampus. Para mahasiswa baru pun tertib meninggalkan lokasi PKKMB 2024 dengan bersih tanpa meninggalkan sampah. (mp)
