INVOCAVIT.COM, MEDAN- Setelah sebelumnya berstatus “reporter” atau tidak mendapat nilai, kini USU dalam rilis Times Higher Education World University Rangkings (THE WUR) 2023 berada di peringkat 12 universitas terbaik di Indonesia.
Rektor USU Dr Muryanto Amin, SSos, MSi, merespons baik kenaikan peringkat USU dalam THE WUR 2023. Masuknya USU dalam pemeringkatan nasional menjadi indikator keberhasilan program internasionalisasi yang telah dicanangkan.
“Alhamdulillah, USU telah masuk dalam penilaian THE WUR tahun 2023, yaitu ada dalam 18 Perguruan Tinggi (PT) di Indonesia. Tahun sebelumnya USU masih berada di “reporter”. Posisi tersebut memberikan semangat yang kuat bagi USU untuk terus berbenah memperbaiki layanan yang dinilai oleh lembaga internasional (THE WUR),” ujar Muryanto dalam keterangannya, Rabu (12/10).
Rektor berharap capaian internasionalisasi USU di tahun mendatang semakin lebih baik. “Mohon doa dari seluruh masyarakat untuk memajukan pendidikan di Indonesia secara global,” ujarnya.
THE WUR merupakan pemeringkatan universitas dunia dengan menggunakan lima indikator, yaitu teaching, research, citations, industry, income dan international outlook. Ada 1.600 universitas dari 99 negara masuk dalam daftar tersebut.
Melansir data dari laman THE WUR, dapat dijabarkan peringkat USU di universitas terbaik dunia masuk ke 1501+ atau 1799, dengan total skor 10,4-18,3. Pada peringkat nasional, dari 18 perguruan tinggi yang masuk ke dalam pemeringkatan THE WUR, USU melesat menduduki posisi 12.
Menurut data THE WUR 2023, poin tertinggi USU terletak pada transfer pengetahuan (industry income), sementara yang masih harus diperbaiki adalah poin lingkungan belajar (teaching).
Secara rinci nilai-nilai yang didapat USU di antaranya, pada indikator Teaching (bobot 30%) USU mendapat nilai 15,4, indikator Research (bobot 30%) nilai 9,9, indikator Citations (30%) nilai 25,1, serta Industry income (2,5%) nilai 38 dan indikator international outlook (7,5%) nilainya 22. Secara keseluruhan nilai USU 17,72.
Direktur Direktorat Internasionalisasi dan Kerja Sama Global Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita S.T., M.T, menjelaskan, untuk tahun ini ada 18 universitas dari Indonesia yang mendapat peringkat dan 7 dengan status “reporter”. Secara nasional USU menduduki posisi 12 dari 18 perguruan tinggi yang mendapatkan peringkat. Urutan ini diperoleh dari laporan Data Point dari THE WUR yang disampaikan kepada USU.
Sebelumnya, USU telah berhasil meraih akreditasi Unggul dari BAN-PT. Dua prestasi yang berdekatan ini menunjukkan bahwa “The Transformation Towards the Ultimate” mulai berdampak bagi kemajuan universitas kebanggaan Sumatera Utara ini. (Ki)
